upload map from console
Author not preserved
Hello I see that there are a lot of server maps on here but I can't imagine that they are all downloaded from there dedicated servers to the users machine then uploaded.

I would like to know if there is an alternative to the flash uploader since most servers won't have flash installed. The alternative would be information on how it is uploaded so that I could create my own uploader that can be run via the console.

Thank you for your time in reading this

Well as far as I know, every map has to be tied to an account, and therefore has to be uploaded by a user. Personally I just download it to my host machine, and upload it here, but it would be nice for there to be a way to do this from the console. Might be well placed as a suggestion.

this came up some time ago:
https://web.archive.org/web/2020/http://www.minecraftworldmap.com/forum/T...er#pid2272

i by myself would love to get the possibility (maybe plugin?) to (auto)upload server-maps directly from the server.

i guess it would really attract lots of server-maps, don't know if this is appreciated, as it would raise needed storage capacity and cpu/render...
maybe with an upload limit - once a week, once a day,.. something like that..

It would also increase traffic to the webpage from the people who play on those servers. Mob web traffic = more customers = more ad revenue.

upon re-reading this it sounds like i'm going on the offensive with this but I want to assure everyone I am not I am just trying to state my viewpoint and I can't think of a better way to put it sorry if this post seams rude as this was not my intent.

linking to an account shouldn't be an issue since depending on how the uploader works (FTB,get,post) all those can use authentication without issue. My main reason for this is that with the size of MP world files it's very prohibitive to share them if you have to download them locally and then upload them. since my server has a 1Gbps uplink and my home connection gets at best 0.5Kbps it would be handy to be able to upload it from the server. I would say the best way is to have a separate non-flash based uploader that can also be used from a text based browser.

as a response to Skeight from the post linked by mamxan

It does get brought up occasionally by someone but hard to justify putting the time into this for a few people...?

If it gets brought up occasionally by several others then it may be justified to make something that will work for them. This is assuming that it's other people that are requesting this feature. one suggestion would be to replace the flash based uploader with an HTML uploader though this may not be feasible as I am not sure how to do a progress bar for the uploader in HTML.

mostly I would like some technical spec on how the uploader connects and uploads to the server (post,FTP,etc) I would make my own uploader as I know that skeight of the site has a lot on his plate.

Steps that would need to happen:
  1. Login to retrieve a valid session_id as currently stored in a cookie when you login with a browser
  2. POST the following fields => values to https://web.archive.org/web/2020/http://minecraftworldmap.com/ajax/uploadworld
    • session_id => valid session
    • world_num => integer identifier for your world, not displayed but a quick view source on your edit page will give you this
    • edit => 1 if you want to trigger a render
    • Filedata => world archive

You should be able to setup something that would duplicate the above process to give you the ability to upload a world from anywhere. If you come up with something that works please share it with the community Smile

Ideally, I'd like to have an API for this type of thing but with only a few people asking about it and so many other things on the go I haven't spent the time on getting this type of system operational.

Thank you I will take a look and see if I can get something working Big Grin

I've been looking at this as well. I have a php script that successfully logs in and retrieves a session id. The script then attempts to post the file. The page loads for a good 30 seconds like it is uploading but then the page displays a 500 error. The error is thrown by minecraftworldmap.com.

I am continuing to look at it.
