What do you mean premium-only? The server that is hosting this map has no association with any website or any subscription of any kind. It is a private server, provided at no cost; hosted by a third party company in Canada.
I offered to provide hosting for this map because I want to see it grow. ELC took me up on the offer. There is absolutely no obligation on part of ELC to have me to continue hosting the map. ELC can cancel at anytime and relocate it. Hopefully ELC keeps me around. We see.
Depending on how the arrangement works out, eventually there will be a more dedicated and more powerful server coming. Hosting of this world thru me will continue to remain free for the ELC Town Map.
The server support is also provided at no cost; this includes any future upgrades done to the server by me and the third party company.

I am asking if this server allows only premium users or not.

A server is not just a server. There are many processes that run along the server. The most prominent processes are asyncchatevents, minecraft server thread, and the server status. The one that displays the 2 people on are from the server status. It is alive and working well. The asyncchatevent is the chat you say ingame. Mojang have seperated the chat event so when a server is lagging, the chat does not supposedly. From what I have seen the server status is working, but the main server thread is not responding (that does all the chunk updates and other main minecraft server events - we can break that apart seperately too to explain it, but no need).
So this is what i am saying, the minecraft server status responds to your request and displays that there are two people online, but the main thread is dead to update the player count.
Essentially - the server is just dead right now.
If there are problems with the server, rather than posting it on this forum please use the server support email as it is shown above. I do not monitor this forum but I do monitor the email address at [email removed]

When I try to connect to your server, I cannot connect to you because I had "Invalid Session" error. Take a hint, what does it say? Invalid session you say? Well, this error occurred when the session id is different than the session id mojang servers had you under. It might be due to mojang resetting their servers or you left minecraft running to long, or other bug that potentially change your minecraft session id (like cracked launcher or virus). So try restarting your launcher AND minecraft. Close all traces of minecraft and reopen them. Login to minecraft launcher and reconnect to the server under 1.7.4 profile. If all fails restart your computer. noob
I did it but nothing happened. Unfortunately, my account is non-premium.
OP: I am not a noob (or probably "n00b") in Minecraft
